A Columbia Valentine’s Day to Remember

This Valentine’s Day, you want something different. Last year’s dinner and drinks were not enough – this year you want an experience. The 1600 Block of Main Street offers endless opportunities for lovers looking to go big this Valentine’s Day.

You start your night at Smoked, Columbia’s newest fine dining restaurant. The atmosphere is sophisticated but still feels warm and welcoming, making it the perfect spot to set the mood for the evening. Above the subtle hum of conversations and live acoustic music, you order a plate of Oysters on the Halfshell and a Martini for Two. It’s love at first bite, and you have a feeling that this Valentine’s date night will be different.

After finishing off the oysters, you stroll across the street where you can already hear the live music at Main Course. Before grabbing a table near the stage, you both sample a few beers from the Taproom. You keep going back for more because there are 75 different taps to choose from, and you want to try them all! Back at the table, the jazz is smooth and makes you feel like you don’t want the night to end, so you order a Charcuterie Board to share.

Even though the show is over, there is still more to do on the 1600 Block. You head back across the street to The Grand for dinner and a round of bowling. Neither of you is very good at bowling, but that’s not what it’s about. You’re enjoying the Filet & Lobster Special and each other's company, thinking this is what Valentine's is supposed to feel like.

After one more game, you’re still not ready to go home. You need something sweet to finish off the night and find your way downstairs to the Robinson Room where you feel transported to an underground oasis. You’ve heard about Michelin-starred Chef Rory Macdonald’s desserts and seen them plenty of times on Instagram, but now it’s your shot to try the Apple Tarte Tatin & Chocolate Orange for yourselves. And since you already reserved the complimentary 1600 Block Limo Service, you can order as many nightcaps as your heart desires.

On the ride home, you can’t help but smile because this Valentine’s Day on the 1600 Block has been nothing short of perfect.

This evening doesn’t have to be limited just to Valentine’s Day. If you are looking for a unique date night experience, make your reservations at Smoked, Main Course, The Grand on Main, and The Robinson Room.
